Frequently Asked Questions

Not sure if volleyball is right for your child? Want to know more about our classes, safety, or how we structure our sessions? We’ve got answers to the most common questions parents ask before joining.

About Our Volleyball Programs

What age groups do you offer volleyball training for?

We offer structured volleyball programs for children aged 5 to 12, divided into three groups: ages 5–6, 7–9, and 10–12. Each stage is tailored to their physical, emotional, and social development.

How are your sessions structured for different age levels?

Younger children focus on movement, coordination, and basic ball control. As they grow, we introduce more structured skills like passing, serving, teamwork, and game strategy.

What is the ideal age to start volleyball training?

We recommend starting between ages 5 and 6, when children begin developing motor coordination and social skills. That’s when learning through play has the biggest impact.

Do you accept children who are completely new to volleyball?

Absolutely! Most of our students start with no previous experience. Our step-by-step method is designed to introduce the sport in a fun, safe, and age-appropriate way.

Is the program focused more on fun or on competition?

Our priority is development, not competition. Sessions are playful and supportive, with gradual exposure to structured games and, eventually, small competitions in older age groups.

Can parents watch?

Yes, parents and family members are welcome to stay and watch the sessions. It’s a great way to see your child’s progress and be part of their volleyball journey.

Safety and Environment

Is Bounce & Grow a safe and supervised environment for children?

Yes. All sessions are led by certified coaches with experience in child development and safeguarding. Safety is a core value in everything we do.

How do you handle injuries or accidents during sessions?

Our coaches are trained in first aid and always supervise sessions closely. We also use soft balls and adapted equipment to minimise risks.

What measures are in place to ensure inclusion and respect for all backgrounds?

We foster a respectful, inclusive space for all children, regardless of culture, religion, language, or ability. Our programs are flexible and welcoming to every family.

Scheduling and Location

Where are your volleyball sessions held?

We’re based in Surrey, UK. All sessions are held in safe, indoor sports facilities suited for young players. Details are provided upon registration.

Do you offer weekend or after-school classes?

Yes, BG Volleyball Academy currently offers both after-school and weekend sessions.
Our after-school sessions are held at selected local schools and are available exclusively to pupils of those schools.
We also run weekend and weekday sessions, which are open to general public and provided in local schools and leisure centres.

Is there parking available at the venue?

Yes. Our venues include on-site parking for families, making drop-off and pick-up convenient and safe.

On what days and times do you run programs for each age group?

Programs for different age groups are held during weekdays and weekends.
The exact time will depend on your child’s age, and will be confirmed upon registration.

What happens if a child misses a session?

We’re unable to offer make-up sessions for classes missed due to other commitments. Fees are paid to secure your child’s place in the class, and that space is held for them whether they attend every session or not. While we hope your child can attend regularly, we understand that occasional absences may happen.

Registration and Prices

How do I register my child for the program?

You can register through our website using our simple contact form. We’ll get back to you quickly with all the next steps.

How do I pay, and is there a refund policy?

Payment for sessions can be made via Bank Transfer and Direct Debit through our provider, GoCardless.
For details regarding our refund policy, please refer to clause 3 in our Terms and Conditions.

What is the cost of your volleyball sessions?

Prices vary by age group and duration. We keep our programs affordable while maintaining high standards of coaching and equipment.

Do you offer trial sessions before committing?

Absolutely. We encourage new families to try a session before enrolling long-term.

Progress and Development

How do you track each child’s progress?

Coaches observe each player throughout the term, offering personal feedback and guidance in every session. We also involve kids in the learning process through reflection and encouragement.

What skills will my child develop over time?

Beyond volleyball techniques, children improve motor coordination, communication, teamwork, resilience, and self-confidence—skills that benefit them in school, sport, and life.

Do you prepare children for competitive volleyball teams?

Yes. Older groups work on game strategy, rules, and team dynamics. For children with potential and interest in competition, we offer the tools and support to take their skills further.

Will my child be placed with players of a similar level?

Yes. Small group sizes allow us to adapt instruction so that each child is challenged at the right level, without pressure.

Can my child move into a more advanced group later on?

Definitely. We offer a clear pathway for progress, and as your child develops, we’ll recommend the best next step.
